Ancillary Task: Magazine Advert Design
Following the research we did back in December, we've been able to come up with a design for the magazine advert. The colour scheme will be the same as the animation part of the music video (discoloured white) with the images of the animation providing the rest of the colour scheme. The themes that other bands followed (namely Arcade Fire and Bullet For My Valentine) were a continuing theme throughout; in the magazine advert, music video and CD cover. Therefore, this is something which we are looking to implement, and the colour scheme is one aspect of this. Also, we have included the images which we used for the animation (e.g. the bird and hands) in the design of the magazine advert, as this acts as an ident, and increases the product identification. This approach (taking shots from the video and using them in other forms of promotion, e.g. the magazine advert or CD cover) is also used by The Maccabees, who are prominent in the folk/indie genre.

Main Task: Alterations We Made
During the post-production phase of our project, we made a number of alterations to our original ideas. We did this for a number of reasons, mainly to enhance the continuity and give the video a higher degree of professionalism. Listed below are the alterations we made to our initial ideas (which can be found on the video planner and storyboard), and the reasons for doing so:
0:14-0:17: We planned on having a mid-long shot of the singer. However, after considering the shot type further later on, we decided that a close-up shot of the singer* would be far more effective, as it gives the audience a better chance to establish a clear image of the singer's physical characteristics. This is key in all promo videos, as the frontman is an icon of the band, and it will be more beneficial for the band if the audience have a distinct picture of them in their mind.
1:12-1:14 and 1:34-1:36: In both of these shots we initially planned on having a long shot of the guitarist. However, when we came to editing the video, we noticed a technical issue in that a tripod was visible in the background of the shots. This would have affected the continuity of the video, and had a negative impact on the professionalism of it. We did, though, have some footage that was useful and shot from the same parts of the song of a two-shot of the guitarist and bassist, and as this was the next best thing - and we didn't have time to re-shoot - it is what we opted for. This was, the professionalism of the product remained intact.
3:21-3:23 and 3:29-3:31: Here, we wanted a low-angle mid-long shot of the guitarist and low-angle mid-long shot of the bassist respectively. However, when we were editing the video we noticed that the lighting on these two clips were wrong and this was not apparent when we first reviewed all of the footage that we'd shot. Therefore, for both of the clips we opted for a low-angle two-shot of the pair, as we had suitable low-angle two-shots from the same section of the song, and the visual aspects of it were actually better, too.
